FESPACHRIST/Mark 01-02

Divine wisdom. Through it, God offers us everything we need to evolve well in our walk of faith. Meditation on the word of God is a proof of spiritual maturity. The book of Mark offers us the possibility of becoming acquainted with Christ, under his face as the Servant of God.

Jesus Said: “Mk.1.15”

Repent and believe the good news…

Here is an unexpected word; the Lord begins his ministry by offering men the possibility of returning to God without being judged for what they have done. The law was not given for man to be transformed by it, which unfortunately is the understanding and expectations of the doctors of the law, in relation to the impact of the law on the people of Israel. Christ tells men two things:

  • Become aware of their unhappy state, and decide to change their attitude;
  • Placed his trust totally in God, who has the power to transform and forgive the sinner who regrets his actions.

Grace and truth are brought to us by Jesus Christ and these are the things that man needed and continues to need.

Jesus Said: “Mk.1.41”

I want it, to be pure…

Here is an affirmative word, the Lord is the very first who wants our well-being and even better our well-being. Know it, believe it, and be convinced and determined that the Lord wants your happiness, simply trust him. The Lord wants our purity first and foremost.

Jesus Said: “Mk.1.42”

Beware, but go and show yourself to the priest…

Here is a common sense recommendation. This way of acting of the master reminds us why he came to earth. Indeed, his coming was to fulfill the Law. Sin, and the weakness of nature, have dulled the Law. Here, then, is what we read in the Bible: “For – something impossible with the law, because the flesh rendered it powerless – God condemned sin in the flesh, sending, because of sin, his own Son into flesh like that of sin, and this that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk, not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit”. (Romans 8.3-4).

Guarding against the Adamic Nature by the Testimony of Truth

Therefore, every true manifestation of the Lord, through the power of the Holy Spirit, must stand as a witness to the truth of the written word of God. We must guard against any carnal manifestation. Our Adamic no longer has the right to the chapter of our existence. In this regard, the Apostle declares: “I have been crucified with Christ; and if I live, it is no longer I who live, it is Christ who lives in me; if I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me” (Galatians 2:20).

Remember, You live for Christ…

Jesus Said: “Mk.2.8-12”

Why do you have such thoughts in your Hearts?…

Here is a word that exposes the major obstacle to faith. It is very impressive to see the rapprochement between the spiritual and psychological. The particularity of the Christian walk is such that; on the one hand, we live surrounded by things, and experiences already lived. These are experiences, good and negative. And on the other hand, we walk in the direction of things that are not yet manifested. This is why our thoughts are very important.

It was Christ who had referred to Human thought as being closer to the Devil. Indeed, he writes: “But Jesus, turning round, said to Peter: Get behind me, Satan! You scandalize me; for your thoughts are not the thoughts of God, but of men”. (Matthew 16.23).

The Responsibility of the Christian and the Obstacle of Faith

The Christian’s greatest responsibility is to watch over his mind (see Colossians 3). Indeed, Man is like his thought (Prov. 23:6-7). The fulfillment of our destiny has as its last point of transit, our soul. And our soul is the laboratory of our thoughts. This is why our thoughts are very important. They can thus overshadow our response to God’s call. This is the case when they are turned towards the things of the earth. It is the Apostle Paul who says: “Put to death, therefore, that which is earthly in your members…” (Col.3.5).

Jesus Said: “Mk.2.14”

Follow me…

It is the Lord alone who calls. When the Lord, your answer must be affirmative. Indeed, he is the Master. Some would say that ignorance of who the Lord is would explain our negative response. However, when he reveals himself to us, the Lord does so in the most effective way possible.

The story of the Apostle Paul on the road to Damascus (See Acts 9), tells us a lot. The thing that allows us to never confuse the voice of the Lord when he speaks to us is his image in us. We are made in his image and likeness (See Gse.1.26). After committing the sin, our elder Adam could still hear the voice of God (See Gse. 3.9-10).

Your Response to God and its Consequence

The Bible passes this advice on to us, saying; today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your heart (see Heb. 3:15).

We must respond to the call of the Lord because he is the only one who has the power to give eternal life. Note that, all will exist eternally, however, to live eternally, we must respond today to the call of Christ.
